MCS/EPBC Alumni Nominating Committee Recommendation and Ratification Vote

Three years ago, David Hillier (Communicators ’72) was asked by Rev. David Shepherd, district superintendent of Western Ontario District, to get the Alumni Association back on track. Part of this strategy included facilitating the appointment, in March 2007, of an interim executive committee, until such time as we could hold elections for these officers. You were introduced to this interim committee in the Fall 2007 edition of the Alumni Post: David Hillier (President), Keith Preston (Vice President), Jodey Hutchings (Secretary), Merv Anthony (College Administrative Liaison), Mark Goring, Karen Hillier, Linda Gibson and Heather Janes.

The Alumni Association constitution sets out guidelines for the nomination and election of the executive committee. Following process, Keith Preston chaired a Nominating Committee composed of himself, Gordon Upton, Tom Richardson and Mark Goring. Originally, we intended to solicit and accept nominations from the MCS/EPBC alumni, and then hold elections at an Alumni Association meeting during General Conference in May 2008.

However, because the Alumni Association has been inactive for some time, and many Alumni members are unaware of what is taking place within the Association, the Nominating Committee has made the following recommendation:

All members of the acting committee have agreed to this proposal.

In order to offer the widest opportunity for our alumni to ratify the recommendation of the Nominating Committee, we are offering an electronic ratification vote. Please register your vote by clicking on "Yes" (to agree with the recommendation) or "No" (to disagree with the recommendation) on the poll to the right, and then clicking on the "Vote" button. Voting will open March 1 and conclude March 31, 2008 at 11:59 pm E.T.
