Full-Time Faculty Positions:

Academic Dean

Master’s College and Seminary invites applications for the position of Academic Dean for the College. The Academic Dean plays a key role in translating the vision and philosophy of MCS into a dynamic learning community, and ensuring quality education and ministry preparation for our students.

The Dean’s key responsibilities include promoting faculty development and upholding teaching excellence and effectiveness, as well as creating, implementing and assessing programs that are in harmony with the mission, vision and educational objectives of Master’s College and Seminary.  

The Academic Dean reports directly to the President and serves as the chief academic administrator of the College.  The successful candidate will hold or be eligible for credentials with the PAOC and have an appropriate earned doctorate (minimum Master’s degree required), a commitment to academic innovation and quality, and demonstrated excellence in pastoral ministry and/or teaching experience. He or she will excel in a team environment, and have the ability to organize, listen, lead and communicate skilfully.

ACADEMIC DEAN - COLLEGE

TO WHOM RESPONSIBLE: The President of Master's College and Seminary.

FOR WHOM RESPONSIBLE: Teaching Faculty, Director of Learning Resources and Administrative Assistant for Academics.

COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP:  Lead Team, Academic Affairs Committee (Chair), Faculty Council (Chair), Academic Appeals Committee, and the national Educational Standards Committee.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF JOB:  The Academic Dean provides leadership in translating the vision and philosophy of MCS into a dynamic learning community and ensuring quality education and ministry preparation for our students. The Dean’s key responsibilities include promoting faculty development and upholding teaching excellence and effectiveness, as well as creating, implementing and assessing programs that are in harmony with the mission, vision and educational objectives of Master’s College and Seminary. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist and advise the President on all academic issues.
  • Along with the President, serve as the liaison with our accrediting agency, the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE).
  • Ensure that the programs and curriculum align with the needs and requirements of the supporting districts.
  • Plan, organize and direct all functions of the Academic Affairs Committee in order to meet all academic goals and learning objectives as established by the administration and faculty in accordance with the core values of MCS.
  • Ensure instructional quality, which will include regular meetings with faculty to discuss and evaluate teaching performance, and offer opportunities for professional development.
  • Prepare annual academic budget.
  • Prepare teaching faculty contracts, assign faculty workload and recommend new faculty hires.
  • Supervise the Director of Learning Resources and Administrative Assistant for Academics.
  • Oversee the administration of all academic policies and committees whose functions are related to the academic affairs of the College.
  • Oversee, facilitate, and implement curriculum and program initiatives in cooperation with faculty and Program Coordinators.
  • Maintain confidential files concerning faculty personnel, training, experience, research, publications and related academic activities.
  • Create a college-wide culture of educational assessment and improvement through the ongoing assessment of educational and institutional outcomes that will provide a consistently high quality of education and maintain standing with the College’s accrediting agency.
  • Assign personnel to annual academic-related committees.
  • Develop and update the Faculty Handbook and the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
  • Serve as academic liaison to outside institutions in the area of inter-school cooperation and articulation agreements.
  • May be required to carry a teaching load.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Commitment to the vision, mission, values, and educational objectives of the college.
  • A minimum of a masters degree. (An earned doctorate is preferred).
  • Hold or be eligible for credentials with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
  • Demonstrated excellence in pastoral ministry and/or teaching experience.
  • Skilled in organization and management.
  • Ability to work effectively with people in a team environment.

Administrative/Staff Positions:

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

RELATIONSHIP TO ORGANIZATION:

Master’s College and Seminary [MCS] is a ministry training institution that is mandated by the Eastern Districts of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada to provide training of ministry leaders for its churches and ministry organizations.

Within this context, the Administrative Assistant contributes to the efficient day to day operations of the office of the President and supports the work of the President and Director of Operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for a range of duties including, but not limited to:

  • Scheduling all appointments, meetings, conferences, and speaking engagements, compile file folders for each, book rooms, etc.
  • Making all travel arrangements
  • Manage all correspondence by mail and e-mail for the President and respond on behalf of the President in some cases
  • Manage all phone and conference calls - as point of contact  - Take all phone calls for the President and Director of Operations
  • Collect mail and ensure the President and Director of Operations reviews it in a timely manner
  • Manage expense reports - Collect all expense receipts from President to compare with Visa statement; cash receipts, etc.
  • Communicate with Chairman of the Board of Governors as appropriate; keep track of board minutes
  • Plan details of Board meetings biannually - Support for annual Board of Governor meetings, organizing travel, food and lodging for Board members etc.
  • Schedule Lead Team and Staff meetings and keep track of minutes
  • Review meeting minutes with the President and Director of Operations to ensure they understand and follow through on action items
  • Management and upkeep of all files and continued development of filing system
  • Provide general office support such as ordering supplies etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication skills with a proficiency in the English language- Willing to connect with people face-to-face, by phone and by email
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to switch gears quickly should a priority situation arise
  • Ability to use a Dictaphone
  • Strong Computer skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point and proficiency in typing)
  • Minimum diploma/degree in Office Administration or equivalent degree or proven experience.

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Candidate will demonstrate competence in following areas:

  • Relationships – maintain a positive working relationship with others both internally and externally.
  • Communication – excellent written and oral skills

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO THE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES & REGISTRAR

RELATIONSHIP TO ORGANIZATION:

Within this context, the Administrative Assistant contributes to the efficient day-to-day operations of the office of the Director of Student Services & Registrar.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for a range of duties including, but not limited to:

  • Manage the course registration process
  • Provide academic advising
  • Prepare Student ID Cards
  • Provide reports as needed
  • Process a variety of registrarial forms
  • Collect and review attendance records and follow up with instructors, if necessary
  • Receive and enter final grades
  • Issue grade reports and transcripts
  • Prepare Student Visa letters for international students
  • Update Scholarship and Tuition Discount Schedule
  • Prepare Final Exam Schedule
  • Collect and review Scholarship Application Forms
  • Serve on Awards Committee
  • Serve on Graduation Operations Committee
  • Assist with graduation preparations
  • Schedule and administer the CAAT
  • Oversee the info@mcs.edu and registrartion@mcs.edu email accounts
  • Ensure relevant sections of the website are updated. (e.g. Academic Programs, Academic Policies, Academic Calendar, Forms)
  • Do filing and data entry as needed
  • Maintain the Alumni database
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong organizational and detail management skills

  • Ability to multi-task
