One of the greatest concerns of loved ones
is whether the education their student receives is recognized
and reliable. MCS is a
well recognized ministry training school with a charter from
the Ontario government that allows the school to grant bachelor
degrees in the areas of theology and Biblical Studies. With
such a charter, students qualify for government funding provided
through provincial and federal offices.
MCS belongs to the
Association for Biblical Higher Education [ABHE]. This
association helps ministry training schools achieve
high academic standards as they seek to fulfill their mandate
to students. The ABHE head office is located in Orlando,
Florida and belongs to the Council for Higher Education
Accreditation,
a federal US organization that regulates education across
North America. No such equivalent body exists in Canada
and therefore
MCS is not required to belong to such an organization.
Canadian colleges and universities have no such Canadian
standard accrediting
body. Yet, the Board of Governors of MCS, in order to insure
that the education delivered is of the highest standard,
deems it important for the institution to have such an
affiliation.
MCS garners the respect of fellow colleges
and is also recognized by other educational institutions.
Students
from MCS have
gone on to complete graduate degrees at public universities
and
colleges. As well, MCS graduates have proven successful
both in ministry and academic circles. For more information
testimonials,
contact the Registrar’s office.
The other concern
of loved ones is where their student will live and
will they be comfortable. To this end,
MCS has a
network established where students can readily locate
reliable and
affordable housing. Feel free to contact our Student
Development office for further information and/or visit
the housing
link under “Student Life” in the website
menu for more information on what resources are available
to students
concerning
housing. MCS also provides activities to help students
integrate into college life and learning. Through the
mentoring program,
students are connected to a local church and pastoral
staff. These relationships prove to be a great support
while students
study at MCS.
Finally, MCS is an institution run by
four districts of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. These districts support MCS financially
and have commissioned the school to train leaders
for ministry.
Support and encouragement from these church bodies
helps MCS
operate to the degree mandated by its governing body.
MCS also receives students from other Evangelical
backgrounds as well.
The goal is to help in furthering the goals of God’s
Kingdom in our world.
Please take the time to navigate
our site. We hope that you will find the information
useful as you
help your
loved one
determine their next step.
