IMPACT OF PENTECOSTALISM (PENT 0501)

The course attempts to analyze the impact of a movement which has transformed world Christianity. This course, although it includes a look at the history of the PAOC, examines the global impact of the move of the Holy Spirit in this century.

LUKE (PENT 0507)

Weekly, Thursdays 8.30 – 11.30 am @ Tyndale

A narrative analysis of Luke’s gospel, with attention given to the oral and biographical nature of the writing. Although the introductory matters will be dealt with and some comparisons with the writings of Mark and Matthew will be drawn, the focus will be on Luke’s narrative.

In preparation for pastoral ministry within a pentecostal/charismatic assembly, the course examines issues such as the theology of worship, the gifts of the Spirit, church conflict and vision casting.

This course will provide a forum for Pentecostals and non-Pentecostals to consider the essential features of Pentecostalism,its orthodox evangelical roots, and its offspring groups.

CHARISMATIC THEOLOGY OF LUKE/ACTS (PENT 0503)

This course is a biblical-theological exposition of the pneumatology of the Lucan literature. It discusses and applies appropriate hermeneutical principles for the interpretation of historical narrative. This is a ground-breaking course for understanding the biblical basis of pentecostal distinctives.

Acts is a pastoral narrative documenting the origin and advancement of the early church. As a story of the emerging Jesus movement, the author charts the triumphs and tragedies of the first Christians and provides a historical context for our NT.
