Roommates are wonderful but to ensure good relationships guidelines must be developed. Open communication is the best policy. • Who pays for what (who is in charge of phone, lease, etc… how much does everyone pay)?

Who Gets the Big Room?

  • Who is willing to pay more rent?
  • How can you best optimize the space?
  • Voice your opinions and concerns
  • Raise issues rather than let other roommates take advantage of you

Sharing Rooms:

  • Be considerate of other roommates
  • Be creative when organizing small spaces
  • Size matters
    • Furniture, Appliances

Etiquette and Issues:

  • Someone is always using the television/telephone
  • The realities of your new life (struggles and basic problem solving skills)
  • Discuss noise levels, visitors, sleeping habits, music tastes
  • How are you going to deal with and try to solve issues that arise?
