How do I find Journal Articles
?
Search periodical indexes to find references
to journal and newspaper articles. Some indexes are
in electronic format and others are in print format.
Ask at the circulation desk if you are not sure which
index to use - it is a very common question!
Apply the same keyword strategies in
electronic indexes that were successful in finding
books. Use the subject index in print indexes.
TIPS:
1. Remember to record the complete
article citation: Title of the journal, volume
and number, year, pages, title and author of the
article.
2. Some electronic indexes have a
holdings message. This tells you the location of
the article in the library. Before you search,
find out if the index you will use has holdings
messages. Reading the message saves a lot of time
and frustration!
To find out if Master's has a specific
journal click on Library
Catalogue (IPAC) on the Libraries' Home Page
and choose Basic Search.
Type the journal tile in the Search
for box and select Title
Alphabetical in the Search
by box.
