Convocation Ceremony for 2016-2017

All students who are eligible to graduate must submit a Graduation Application Form even if they do not plan to attend the Convocation Ceremony. Once received the application form alerts the Registrar’s Office to review a student’s academic record to determine their eligibility for graduation. The Graduation Application Form, along with the required $100.00 fee, should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office by the first Friday of December for students planning to graduate in April and by the last Friday of September for students planning to graduate in October. An additional fee of $25.00 will be charged for late applications. Late applications may be deferred until the next convocation ceremony. After the Graduation Application Form has been processed, students will be notified by the Registrar’s Office as to whether they are eligible to graduate. All financial obligations must be met prior to a student being eligible to graduate.
Students who complete their graduation requirements in the summer or fall sessions can request an official letter from the Registrar’s Office to indicate that they have completed all of their graduation requirements and that they will officially graduate on the Administrative Graduation Day in October or at the Convocation Ceremony in April, whichever comes first.
Students who complete their graduation requirements in the summer session can apply to graduate on the Administrative Graduation Day, which is generally the last Thursday of October. Since there is no convocation ceremony connected to the Administrative Graduation Day, students who graduate on that day, can attend the April Convocation Ceremony, if they so choose.
Master’s only has one Convocation Ceremony each year and it is generally held on the last weekend of April at Global Kingdom Ministries in Toronto. Students are encouraged to attend the Convocation Ceremony to receive their degree, diploma or certificate so that they can share their accomplishments with family, friends and fellow graduates. A light stand-up reception is held at the conclusion of the convocation ceremony.
Students are ultimately responsible for ensuring that they meet the graduation requirements. Students may be recommended for graduation by the College Council provided they:
- show evidence of mature Christian character as outlined in the Student Handbook;
- complete a minimum of one year at Master’s;
- successfully complete all course requirements;
- successfully complete the practical ministry requirements of their program;
- have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00;
- have all outstanding fees paid; and
- submit a Graduation Application Form to the Registrar’s Office by the dates indicates above.
Graduation with Honours/Highest Honours:
Students who graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.55 to 3.79 will have the words “Honours” added to their degree parchment and to their transcript. Students who achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher will have the words “Highest Honours” added to their degree parchment and to their transcript.
Master’s provides the required academic attire for all graduates.
Delta Epsilon Chi
With the recommendation of the faculty, up to 7% of the graduating degree students may be inducted into Delta Epsilon Chi, the honor society of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), our accrediting body. This honor recognizes graduates from member institutions of the ABHE who have distinguished themselves through intellectual achievement, Christian character and leadership ability.
Graduating in Absentia
Students who want to graduate without attending the Convocation Ceremony can do so by indicating their choice on the Graduation Application Form. The graduation fee applies to all graduates, regardless of whether they attend the Convocation Ceremony. Within one month of the convocation ceremony, the certificate/diploma/degree parchments will be mailed to all graduates who do not attend the ceremony.
Master’s uses the full legal name of the student on all parchments. A Change of Name Form with proper legal documentation, must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office if a student wants to use a different name than one that is on file at the college. Only the name of the degree/diploma/certificate appears on the parchment; program names (e.g. Pastoral Ministry, Youth Ministry) only appear on the transcript.
Certificate/Diploma/Degree Replacement Policy
To receive a replacement Certificate/Diploma/Degree when there has been a legal name change or the original document has been lost or destroyed, a completed Certificate/Diploma/Degree Replacement Form,must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office. The reprinted certificate/diploma/degree will carry the precise date the certificate/diploma/degree was originally awarded and the date of re-issue. For practical purposes the signatures of the officials will be of those currently in office. To protect the institution and continuity of records, the new certificate/diploma/degree will have ONE of the following printed on its face:
- The original (certificate/diploma/degree) was awarded at Master’s College and Seminary or Eastern Pentecostal Bible College (as applicable) on (date ). Upon request of the awardee, this (certificate/diploma/degree) was re-issued on (date) following a legal change of name.
- The original (certificate/diploma/degree) was awarded at Master’s College and Seminary or Eastern Pentecostal Bible College (as applicable) on (date). Upon request of the awardee, this document was re-issued on (date) to replace the original that was lost or destroyed.
